Important note: starting with v2.5.2.0, XtraShare for SharePoint is now called Extradium for SharePoint.
In order to upgrade you current XtraShare/Extradium installation to a more recent Extradium 2010 release, sign in at our Clients Portal and download the Extradium_Standard_2010.msi installer file.
The detailed upgrade instructions are already available in the Extradium Quick Start Guide, but for added convenience, these steps are available here as well:
- In the License Information page of the XtraShare/Extradium Central Administration site, make a (mental or written) note of your current Extradium Version. You will need it to complete the upgrade (see below).
- (Optional) Back up any XtraShare/Extradium resource file (exs.[LCID].resx files in any Extradium-enabled web application’s App_GlobalResources folder) you may have modified
- Stop the World Wide Web Publishing Service (for instance with “net stop w3svc”) on all web front-end servers in your SharePoint farm in order to avoid any lock error on Extradium files that are upgraded.
- Restart the SharePoint Timer Service on all web front-ends, those that are not load-balanced.
- Run the latest Extradium installer on the same server where Extradium was originally installed. This will take care of upgrading all the necessary files.
- (Optional) Compare the Extradium resource files you have backed up in step #1 with the new resource files. If no key has been added, you can safely overwrite the resource files. Otherwise, you will have to incorporate all your customizations into the new resource files.
- Restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service (for instance with “net start w3svc”).
- Connect to the Database Configuration page in the Extradium Administration Site, check the Upgrade database schema checkbox and press the OK button.
- If your prior-to-upgrade version of XtraShare was lower than 2.2.3.0, download the XtraShare 2.2.3.0 Upgrade Script, remove the .txt extension and run it on a SharePoint server that hosts the SharePoint Central Administration (this will add the Security Settings page as well as other features)
- If your prior-to-upgrade version of XtraShare was lower than 2.2.7.2, download the Email Templates Migration Tool and run it on your SharePoint server.
- If your prior-to-upgrade version of XtraShare was lower than 2.3.2.0, download the Password Migration Tool and run it on your SharePoint server.
- If your prior-to-upgrade version of XtraShare was lower than 2.3.5.0, download the XtraShare 2.3.5.0 Upgrade Script, remove the .txt extension and run it on a SharePoint server that hosts the SharePoint Central Administration (this will add the Security Questions Management page)
- If your prior-to-upgrade version of XtraShare was lower than 2.5.2.0, download the Extradium 2.5.2.0 Upgrade Script, remove the .txt extension and run it on a SharePoint server that hosts the SharePoint Central Administration (this will change all references from XtraShare to Extradium, except the link in the top navigation bar of the Central Administration, which you can manually change by selecting the "Top link bar" link in the Site Settings page of the Central Administration site).
